Mo’Nique was born Monique Imes in 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland and got her degree in 1987. She probably became famous for the first time when she played Nikki Parker on the UPN TV show The Parkers. Since then, she has become well-known for her stand-up comedy and for hosting shows like “Showtime at the Apollo.” Mo’Nique’s brother dared her to do stand-up at an open mic night at the Comedy Factory Outlet in downtown Baltimore.
