Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship, launched Dost – its first entry in India’s fast expanding LCV segment— in Mumbai after Chennai on September 12. It also marks the first vehicle to be launched from its Joint Venture with Nissan Motor Company, said the company. Dost was launched in Chennai with a price tag of Rs 3.79 lakhs to Rs 4.39 lakhs (ex-showroom – Chennai).

Hinduja flagship Ashok Leyland has bagged an order for 600 vehicles from VRL Logistics that comprise 500 numbers of 3123 Multi-Axle Vehicle (MAV) in the 8×2 configuration, a newly developed, first of its kind for the Indian commercial vehicle industry, along with 100 units of the company’s 12-metre buses.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja flagship, announced that the company bagged an order for 2,850 buses from the Institute for Road Transport (IRT), the nodal agency for procurement of vehicles for the state of Tamil Nadu. The order includes a requirement from MTC for 150 vehicles conforming to BS IV emission norms and is the very first such order to be received from a State Transport Undertaking.

Ashok Leyland converts 761 BEST buses to CNG mode

BEST, pioneers in urban mass transportation in Mumbai and Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland have joined hands to implement a green initiative in BEST’s bus fleet. Ashok Leyland engineers in collaboration with a team of Automotive Manufacturers Pvt Ltd (an Ashok Leyland dealer) and BEST technical officers converted 761 diesel BSII buses of BEST to CNG BSIII buses in a record time of 10 months.

Ashok Leyland’s new plant inaugurated in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand chief minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal inaugurated Hinduja’s flagship company, Ashok Leyland’s technologically world-class automobile manufacturing facility at Pantnagar. The new facility will increase Ashok Leyland’s current installed capacity of 100,000 vehicles by another 75,000. With the concessions available in Uttarakhand for new industries, the company will have a cost advantage of about Rs 40,000 – Rs 50,000 per vehicle, said a company release.
The new facility, which spreads across 190 acre, would initially roll out its latest U-Truck, and produce various medium and heavy duty vehicles in the later stages.
