Wanted a ‘Veer’ Salman
By Harpreet Kaur
The bad boy of Bollywood is all heart and far better person than many who are just talk. If you want someone from the industry who can get down and do some charity – just call on Salman Khan.
Over the years his simple action plan of helping his friends and colleagues out during crisis had spilled into helping in the Make A Wish Foundation, Being Human and many others. He always does have a shoulder to offer to those who wish to cry on it but send them away with a huge smile n their faces. Like in Lift Kara De episode he donated 8,20,000 to a family of rag picker as a savings and will individually and separately pay for the operation of the rag picker, his wife and also pay for the education of his four girls till 12th standard.
You come away with a feeling that this man does have a big heart and he does not need to show it off, his work speaks for itself. Being open about his likes and dislikes and speaking openly about them may have landed him in trouble but he reminds you of Denis the menace with a gold heart who does not deliberately do a wrong but being human it may happen. But otherwise he tries not to do wrong at all.
A very talented person who has hidden his assets (and I do not mean his muscles) like painting, designing, and charity work quite well from the public eye until now when he has himself realized that he can make a huge difference in people’s lives with his work.
Over the years he has taken a lot of stuff from the people he has worked with and the media but chosen not to come out and smack in the face about it. From an illustrious family of do-gooders he is now like an Alchemist’s Stone (Paras pathar). Everybody wants a piece of him now so they can change their iron into gold, maybe if you just asked him he would do it for you. Believe me he is quite capable of doing it. The charity he does speaks volumes.
His Make A Wish Foundation work is clear – he meets children who have a wish and fulfills it for them while Being Human Foundation is a wish to bring together all the means to help the needy and do social work. A truly real do-gooder, a bade dilwala – big hearted person. (I have known in my life only one such other person.) God Bless Salman for the work he does.
The paintings, watches and fashion collection designed and sold by him and the moneys collected have been put into this foundation. A number of NGOs are also apart of this foundation. The recent Gold coin collection that was being sold was also for this charity.
But before you wish to ask where you can buy the stuff these were all one of a kind, and have not been launched completely in the market. There is a problem with fakes trying to get hold of the market, so hold you horses and wait for the entire collection to come out.
