Narayana Hrudayalaya is set to launch Cancer Hospital
Bangalore, April 6, 2009
Narayana Hrudayalaya, the leader in providing world class healthcare at affordable prices, has extended its portfolio yet again. The Mazumdar Shaw Centre for Cancer Research commissioned for late April is set to be the world’s largest cancer hospital at 5 Lac sq ft after an investment of approximately 250 crore.
In line with the standards of the quality healthcare by Narayana Hrudayalaya, it is the first cancer hospital in India that facilitates organ specific treatment. With particular focus on Head & Neck cancer, Breast cancer and Cervical cancer, the hospital aims at targeting the most common and widespread forms of cancer.
With a pantheon of doctors associated with prestigious universities like the Cornell University, New York and Harvard University the hospital will probe into sub-site specific treatment. “Each part of the body like the tongue as opposed to the cheek needs a different diagnosis”, said Dr. Paul Salin, CEO, Mazumdar Shaw Centre for Cancer. “The method not only ensures cost effective treatment with minimum wastage but also higher levels of comfort to the patient.”
The cancer hospital not only brings with it the legacy of world-class treatment but also the philosophy of reaching out to the masses from Narayana Hrudayalaya. A Community Outreach Programme to foster early detection of cancer is being spear-headed. By releasing 4 mobile vans (initially) complete with clinical, diagnostic and pathological services, all over Karnataka the Hospital aims to run cancer screening tests for the masses so that patients can receive treatment when it is not too late.
