Honda launches EV-neo electric scooter, sales for commercial use by December
Honda Motor Co roll out electric scooter, EV-neo, for commercial use in Japan by December 2010. Honda Motor has unveiled the latest prototype of EV-neo.
EV-neo will be sold to businesses and individual business owners that provide mainly delivery services. Honda developed the EV-neo to provide the durability necessary for commercial use, envisioning a wide range of uses by businesses such as delivery services.
Equipped with a lithium-ion battery and a brushless motor, EV-neo ensures zero CO2 emissions on use. The battery is rechargeable by plugging to a household power source with attention given to the range per charge. EV-neo will run about 30 km (at 30km/hour on flat road) per charge.
With quick charger, approximately 80% of the battery capacity will be charged in 20 minutes from a 200V power source. Using a regular charger, the EV-neo battery can be charged to its full capacity in 4 hours from a 100V power socket.
EV-neo provides a powerful performance equivalent to that of mass-market under-50cc gasoline engine motorcycles even with cargo. The mass-market model of EV-neo is currently under development.
