Yes, its true. 3 Idiots have rewritten history by earning Rs 100 crores in just 4 days. Sounds unbelievable! We are talking about ‘3 Idiots’, the recently released Aamir Khan Starrer hindi movie. Reliance Big Pictures which released ‘3 Idiots’ in 2126 screens worldwide including 366 screens overseas has set new records in ticket sales in towns and cities across the world. In just 4 days the film has grossed over an astounding Rs 100 crores worldwide.

Inspired from Chetan Bhagat’s novel, “Five Point Someone” the film narrates the story of three friends together in an engineering college. Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan), Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), and Rancho or Rancchoddas Shyamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan) share the same room in a hostel at the fictional Imperial College of Engineering. While Farhan and Raju are mediocre students from modest backgrounds, Rancho is a wealthy genius who studies for the sheer joy of it. Yet it is precisely his passion for knowledge and his gift for creating machines that incurs the wrath of Professor Viru Sahastrabudhhe (ViruS), played by Boman Irani. Threatened by Rancho’s talent, ViruS labels him an “idiot” and attempts on a number of occasions to destroy his friendship with Farhan and Raju. In contrast, ViruS’ model student is Chatur Ramalingam or “Silencer,” (Omi Vaidya) a geek who lives by conforming to the expectations of the system, mindless cramming, and unethical means of destroying his competition. Meanwhile, Rancho also falls in love with ViruS’ pre-med daughter Pia played by Kareena Kapoor. Their story is framed as a flashback from the present day, ten years after graduation.

Having lost contact with Rancho who disappeared during the graduation party. Raju and Farhan get a call from Chatur, whom 10 years ago challenged Rancho to see who would be more successful, him or Rancho. Raju and Farhan crash Pia’s wedding, and she goes along with them to find Rancho. Chatur thinks that Rancho is a schoolteacher, but Rancho tells everyone that he is Phunsukh Wangdu, a world-famous scientist whom Chatur is waiting to sign a deal with, much to Chatur’s shock and dismay.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Javed Jaffrey and Mona Singh also play significant roles in this movie. The screenplay is written by a team of Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, while the music is by Shantanu Moitra.
