New Audi A4 launched at a price of Rs 27.33 lakh

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, announced the launch of the new Audi A4 sedan variants equipped with enhanced fuel efficiency and power packed petrol and diesel engines. The new Audi A4 variants are priced between Rs 27.33 lakh and Rs 38 lakh (all ex-showroom Maharashtra), said the auto major.

Audi, the Volkswagen group owned premium car maker, claims that the A4 sedan is rolled out with more efficient engines, splendid legroom for rear passengers, technical fitness and enhanced passenger comfort.

For passenger convenience, the 2012 Audi A4 has features such as glass sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, Sunblinds- electrical for rear window, manual for rear side windows; cruise control, storage package and three-zone automatic air conditioning.

The new Audi A4 has a wonderful infotainment system. The 2012 Audi A4 comes with DVD player with colored monitor, concert radio and eight speakers. The new Audi A4 also comes with MMI system that has voice dialogue facility. Driver Information System and Audi Music Interface have been added in the new car.

On the exterior front, the 2012 Audi A4 has Xenon Plous headlamps with day-time running lights, front fog lamps, LED rear lights and light and rain sensor.

In the interior, the new Audi A4 has leather-covered 4-spoke malfunction steering wheel, seat upholstery in Milano leather (optional), front centre armrest and rear headrest.

As far as safety is concerned, the 2012 Audi A4 is equipped with anti-theft bolts, anti-theft alarm, auto release function, first aid kit and warning triangle, side, front and rear airbags.

New Audi A4 TFSI Petrol Engine

The new Audi A4 petrol variant sedan is powered by a 1.8L TFSI four-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection, exhaust-gas turbocharging and Audi Valve lift system delivering maximum power of 125 PS (170 HP) at 3800-62000 rpm and a torque of 320 nm at 1400-3700 rpm.

The engine consists of four cylinders arranged in line with Audi’s valvelift system and intake and exhaust camshaft adjustment with roller cam followers. The engine delivers 15.64 kmpl of mileage (as per ARAI) enhancing the fuel efficiency by 25% in mileage in new Audi A4. The new Audi A4 sedan touches 0-100 kmph in 8.3 seconds and attains a top speed of 225 kmph.

New Audi A4 2L TDI diesel engine

The Audi A4 2.0 TDI is the diesel variant of 2012 Audi A4. The 2.0 litre of TDI diesel engine produces 105 kW of power along with bombastic torque of 320 Nm. The new Audi A4 powered by 2L TDI diesel engine attains 0-100 speed in 9.1 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kmph. This diesel engine has ARAI certified mileage of 16.55 km per litre.

New Audi A4 3L TDI Quattro diesel engine

The revamped Audi A4 comes with 3.0 litre TDI diesel engine. The engine is quite commanding and keeps the ability to generate impressive power and torque and delivers inspiring mileage as well. On the outside, there exteriors have been given a fresh look, while the interiors have been made much more luxurious than before.

The top-end diesel variant with 2967 cc displacement churns out a massive 180 PS of power at 4000-4500 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1400-3250 rpm. This is the only engine in the entire line up that has a 6 cylinder engine arranged in V6 WITH 90V angle. The 3.0 litre diesel motor delivers 14.94 kmpl of mileage. It covers 0-100 kmph speed in 5.9 seconds. The top speed of Audi A4 3L TDI is 250 kmph.

New Audi A4 3L TDI Quattro variant has the permanent all-wheel drive system while the A4 2.0 TDI and A4 1.8 TFSI variants have front wheel drive only.

All the new Audi A4 variants have the European Union emission standard.

The new Audi A4 3L TDI Quattro sedan runs on 17 inch lightweight cast aluminium wheels with five-arm design while the other two variants have 16 inch aluminium alloy wheels. Gross weight of A4TFSI is 2020 kg, A4 2.0 TDI is 2065kg and A4 3.0 TDI quattro is 2230 kg.

Audi continues to be the fastest growing luxury car brand in India. The brand with the four rings continues to be the market leader in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi RS5 and now Audi TT and in the luxury SUV segment in India with Audi Q5 and Audi Q7.

The new Audi A4 comes out with a new look, which accentuates the horizontal lines at the front end. The engine hood is more arched, the upper corners of the single frame grille are tapered, and the cross ribs and the Audi rings are highlighted three-dimensionally.

Audi India plans to expand its network to 25 dealerships by the end of 2012 from its existing 18 centres. Audi recently opened new showrooms in Coimbatore, Delhi West and Nagpur. Last year, the luxury carmaker opened new showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Bhopal, Lucknow and Mumbai South.

TVS Motor Company launched new 2012 Apache Series RTR 160 and 180 in new design and style. Accordingly, the next level TVS Apache models namely TVS Apache RTR 160, TVS Apache RTR 180 and TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS have been rolled out and will be available through TVS dealers across the country, the company stated.

TVS Apache RTR 160 will cost Rs 67,505 (ex-showroom Delhi), TVS Apache RTR 180 will carry a price tag of Rs 72,090 (ex-showroom Delhi) and TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS will cost Rs 82,780 (ex-showroom Delhi).

India’s passenger car market leader Maruti Suzuki India unveiled the industry’s first Life Utility Vehicle (LUV) Ertiga in six variants. The seven-seater Ertiga LUV is aggressively priced at Rs 5.89 lakh for the entry level petrol version (Ertiga LXi) and for the Ertiga diesel base model (Ertiga LDi), the price tag is Rs 7.30 lakh, said the company.

Market experts say that with the launch of the seven-seater Ertiga, the new utility vehicle from the Maruti Suzuki stable will give a tough competition to the same segment vehicles including Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova on the price front.

Ertiga MPV from Maruti Suzuki stable to hit Indian roads on April 12

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automaker is all set to launch its compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Ertiga on 12 April to tap the surging sales of MPVs in the domestic market. Pricing competitively at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), Ertiga will take on Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova in the domestic market.

The three-row Ertiga MPV was launched at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi.

The MPV segment in India has grown 15% in last four years dominated by Toyota Innova followed by Xylo and. Ertiga is expected to give a tough challenge to the segment leaders with its look of a sedan and functioning of a compact MPV.

Above all, Maruti has priced Ertiga at an attractive Rs 10 lakh mark, said the company. Segment leaders Mahindra new Xylo is priced between Rs 8.50 and Rs 10.24 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) while the new Innova with added features is priced between Rs 9.4 lakh to Rs 13.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Ertiga’s overall length comes to be 4266 mm, width is 1695 mm and height is 1685 mm. The Ertiga makes it presence felt with its broad 2740mm wheelbase. The seven-seater Ertiga offers three flexible seating rows, that can be moved about to make extra room for luggage.

Ertiga is equipped with a 3-spoke fully adjustable steering with audio controls. Ertiga has other features including twin AC, USB compatible audio system with 4+2 speakers and power windows. Assisting the driver is multi-information display, electrically adjustable mirror, and central door locking and keyless entry.

Ertiga will be available in both, petrol and diesel variants.

For the petrol trim, Ertiga features a K-14 VVT motor that develops a power of 70 KW @ 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 130 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. It is claimed to have a fuel economy of 16.02 kmpl.

For the diesel variant, Eritga is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS Super Turbo engine that has a max power of 66 KW @ 4,000 rpm and peak power of 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm. Expected fuel efficiency for the diesel Ertiga is 20.77 kmpl.

Renault Fluence E4 diesel variant launched at Rs 14.63 lakh

Keeping in view the surging demand for diesel passenger cars in India, French auto major Renault rolled out Fluence E4 Diesel variant at Rs 14.63 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Fluence E4 is powered by Renault’s new generation 1.5 dCi (K9K) direct injection diesel engine delivering power of 106PS @ 4,000 rpm and 240Nm of torque @ 2,000 rpm. Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the new Fluence E4 diesel variant offers a mileage of 20.4kmpl.

Fluence E4 Diesel has chrome finish on window sill and trunk lid. Silver finished door handles, rain sensing front wiper with two speed and intermittent variable.

Hyundai new Sonata priced at Rs 18.52 lakh

Hyundai Motor India Ltd announced the price of the all new Sonata. The all new Sonata with manual transmission is priced at Rs 18,52,979 and the automatic transmission at Rs 20,61,272 (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The all new Sonata was launched at the 11th Auto Expo in January this year.

The all new Sonata is crafted on the design philosophy of ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ where contrasting surfaces create a sense of constant motion. Toyota unveils next-gen small hybrid concept car FT-Bh at Geneva Motor Show 2012

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) unveiled “FT-Bh”1, a lightweight, next generation small gasoline-electric hybrid concept car at the 82nd Geneva International Motor Show 2012.

Toyota developed the FT-Bh as a B-segment, ultra fuel-efficient concept car under the theme of “ecomotion” (eco + emotion). In addition to high environmental performance, the Toyota FT-Bh electric hybrid car aims to provide an enjoyable driving experience through highly responsive and nimble operability.

Toyota FT-Bh hybrid concept car has adopted weight reduction measures and is run by a more-efficient powertrain and reduced air resistance. The Toyota FT-Bh hybrid car boasts a fuel efficiency of 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), with CO2 emissions of just 49 g/km—less than half the current average for B-segment cars.

Adopting a small fuel tank placed under the rear seat together with the hybrid system’s lithium-ion battery gives Toyota FT-Bh a low center of gravity, thus contributing to improved driving performance.

In addition to the Toyota FT-Bh on display, the Japanese auto major has conceived two alternative versions: a compressed natural gas (CNG) hybrid version with CO2 emissions of 38 g/km and a plug-in hybrid version with CO2 emissions of just 19 g/km.

FT-Bh lightweight body
The curb weight3 of the Toyota FT-Bh hybrid is a mere 786 kg. Assuming a mass-produced fuel-efficient vehicle, the FT-Bh body structure makes greater use of high-tensile-strength steel and does not require expensive materials such as carbon fiber for weight reduction. In addition, a new high-expansion foam material is used inside Toyota FT-Bh hybrid to improve interior thermal management and reduce the weight of interior components. This allows other components, including the body frame, chassis and powertrain, to be made lighter.

Toyota FT-Bh can seat four adults comfortably in a body that is less than four meters long and that achieves an outstanding drag coefficient of just 0.235. FT-Bh’s highly efficient powertrain
For a high level of fuel efficiency, Toyota developed a new, long stroke 1.0-liter, two-cylinder Atkinson cycle gasoline engine for FT-Bh that achieves high environmental performance with CO2 emissions of only 49 g/km under the NEDC, along with improved hybrid system efficiency.

Effective thermal energy management
Through the application of high-expansion foam material to interior and weight reduction in the materials used for the seating and interior, the thermal capacity4 necessary for controlling FT-Bh cabin temperature is reduced. In addition, comprehensive thermal management measures have been implemented, such as “air-zoning” that adjusts temperature only in necessary areas depending on the number of FT-Bh passengers. Due to small amount of heat generated by high-efficiency engines, heat from both the engine and exhaust is used for heating the interior.

Reduced power consumption
Power consumption in the FT-Bh has been cut to half that of standard B-segment cars. The adoption of LEDs in the head, tail and room lights, and reduction of standby power requirements necessary for electrical components such as power windows has substantially reduced overall power consumption.

Toyota FT-Bh has bullet-shaped body features sleek, tapered proportions achieved by merging the long roof seamlessly with the protruding windshield, along with narrow pillars that maintain high visibility.
