Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) is India’s first privately owned mobile operator to sign a deal securing its 3G telecoms supplier. It has selected Nokia Siemens Networks technology and expertise to support the launch of 3G. The network, based on WCDMA 3G and including HSPA+, will allow TTSL to offer high-quality mobile broadband providing fast Internet browsing and better quality voice calls.

Eying to grab a share of the ever-expanding mobile handset market of the country, consumer electronics brand Oscar announced its India foray with the company is expected to launch its low-cost products in North and East regions soon followed by the rest of the country. Reliance Communications Ltd (RCOM), and its subsidiary Reliance Infratel Ltd (RINFRATEL) and GTL Infrastructure Ltd (GTL Infra) agreed for a Rs 50,000-crore ($11 billion) deal to create the world’s largest independent telecom infrastructure company, neither owned nor controlled by any telecom operator, said a company release. This transformational deal will be implemented through a demerger of RINFRATEL’s tower assets into GTL Infra.
India’s largest optic fibre network of over 200,000 kms and related assets presently, owned by RINFRATEL will remain under RCOM’s ownership.

Reliance Communications (RCOM), India’s largest and only telecom operator offering both CDMA and GSM service across the country, has announced the launch of first-of-its kind Customer Care Initiative ‘Live Chat’. This Live Chat service will enable Reliance’s customers with real-time query and issue handling through chat-based online platform.

Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Industries announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a substantial stake in Infotel Broadband Services (P) Ltd, which has emerged as a successful bidder in all the 22 circles of the auction for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) Spectrum conducted by the DoT.RIL will invest about Rs 4,800 crore by way of subscription to fresh equity capital at par to be issued by Infotel Broadband. Post this investment, RIL will own 95% of the equity and Infotel Broadband will be a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited.
