Mercedes-Benz India launched the most premium SUV in Indian market- the New GL 350 CDI BlueEfficiency. This seven-seater premium SUV offers excellent handling both on and off-road and pampers occupants with its extremely spacious accommodation and a host of luxury fitments, said a press release issued by the company. The Mercedes-Benz GL has two variants: GL- Executive and GL-Luxury. The Mercedes-Benz GL- Executive has a price tag of Rs 63.57 lakhs and the GL-Luxury is priced at Rs 68.48 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).

As part of expanding its latest sensation in the Indian market, Fiat launched two new Grande Punto variants: Fiat 1.2 FIRE Dynamic and Fiat 1.2 FIRE Emotion in the premium petrol hatchback segment. The price of Fiat Grande Punto variants will certainly be an attractive factor to woo the Indian customers. The price of 1.2 FIRE Grande Punto Dynamic is Rs 4.57 lakh and of 1.2 FIRE Grande Punto Emotion is Rs 4.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

British super luxury car brand Bentley launched its top-end model ‘Mulsanne’ in India. Mulsanne is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 2.9 crore and may hit Indian roads by October this year. Mulsanne is powered by a 6.7-litre V8 petrol engine, stated the company website. The V8 engine is lighter and features cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing, a combination that can significantly reduce both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The Ford Figo, which was launched in India in March, priced at Rs 3.49 lakh, is a compact hatchback car and certainly will be a strong rival to the same-segment cars like Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20 and VW Polo in matters of multifarious factors including price and features. New Ford Figo will be avilable in both petrol and diesel variants.

Honda Siel Cars India launched its latest version of flagship sedan Accord 3.5L V6 with an Electric Sunroof and additional luxury features to enhancing the exterior styling of the car. In addition, Honda Accord 3.5L V6 and Honda Accord 2.4L now have a Bluetooth connectivity option for mobile phones. All Accord variants will be available at Rs .18,52,000 for 2.4L MT, Rs.19,27,000 for 2.4L AT and Rs 26,15,000 for 3.5L V6(Ex-showroom Delhi).

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) launched a “Select Edition” of its small car ‘Jazz’ which is priced at Rs. 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Volkswagen launched its much-awaited premium hatchback, the New Polo in Mumbai. polo will be available in two variants — petrol and diesel. Both the variants are equipped with 1.2L engine. The petrol variant of Volkswagen Polo is priced at Rs 4.34 lakhs (ex showroom New Delhi) while the 1.2L diesel variant comes at Rs 5.32 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi). Deliveries of the new 1.2L 75HP New Polo petrol variant will begin from March 2010 onwards across all Volkswagen dealerships, says a company release. The 1.2L diesel variant will be available from May 2010. Volkswagen Polo is set to rub shoulders with same segment products like Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Fiat Punto, Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20.

Maruti Suzuki, the name which every second car on Indian roads bears, has launched the much-waited multi-utility vehicle (MUV), Eeco recently. Aimed to be a bigger and a complete family car, the main advantage of an MUV is the space that it provides. However, it is easy to make out that this model is nothing but a stripped-down version of the phased-out Versa. Eeco comes with two seating options – 5-seater and 7-seater. The 5-seater is further divided into two variants, standard (without A/C) and A/C. Though the 7-seater is available only in standard variant, this version is more likely to be a favourite of tourists and taxi services.

New Ford Figo car production capacity is up to 200,000 units annually – doubling vehicle production at the facility. The new Ford Figo will be equipped with a standard 1.2L petrol engine developed exclusively for the India market. Four cylinder Diesel and Petrol engines in varying displacements up to 1.6 litres also will be produced for export at the Chennai facility.
