Porsche launches second-generation Cayenne series in India
German luxury car maker Porsche launched five models of its second-generation Cayenne namely Cayenne, Cayenne S, Caynne Turbo, Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne S Hybrid priced between Rs 65.82 lakh and Rs 1.27 crore in India (ex-showroom).
The company’s ex-showroom price of the five Cayenne models are: Cayenne (Rs 65.82 lakh), Cayenne S (Rs 78.62 lakh), Caynne Turbo (Rs 1.27 crore), Cayenne Diesel (Rs 59.22 lakh) and Cayenne S Hybrid (Rs 75.46 lakh).
Accordingly, the entry model Cayenne is powered by 3.6 V6 eight-speed engine that produces 300 HP (220 kW) at 6,300 rpm. Cayenne takes 7.5 seconds to touch 0-100 km/h (62 mph) speed. Its top speed is 230 km/h (143 mph) with a CO2 emission rate of 263 g/km.
The Cayenne S is powered by 4.8 V8 engine with a peak power of massive 400 HP. Its maximum speed is 258 km/h and zooms to 0-100 km/h (62 mph) speed in 5.9 seconds. Its CO2 emissions rate is 245 g/km.
Cayenne Diesel has the 3.0 litre V6 engine under the hood producing 240 HP (176 kW) at 4,000 rpm. Again, Cayenne Diesel touches 100 km/h (62 mph) from zero in 7.8 seconds and its top speed is 218 km/h (135 mph) emitting CO2 at 195 g/km. It has brought down fuel consumption by 20%, down from 9.3 to 7.4 litre/100km, states the company.
The Cayenne S Hybrid is powered by 47 HP electric motor generates a total output of 380 horse power. Top speed of Cayenne S Hybrid is 242 km/h (150 mph) and it achieves0-100 km/h speed in 6.5 seconds. Its CO2 emission rate is 193 g/km. The Cayenne Hybrid has an electric motor along with the regular engine. This two drive units are connected to one another by a separator clutch.
The most powerful of the five series, Cayenne Turbo, is propelled by a massive 4.8 V8 biturbo engine with the peak output of mind blowing 500 horse power at 6,000 rpm. Its top speed is clocked at 278 km/h (173 mph) and attains 0-100 km/h (62 mph) speed in just 4.7 second, says the company. Cayenne Turbo provides a combined fuel efficiency of 100 km per 11.5 litre and with CO2 emission rate of 270 g/km.
Presently, the company has two showrooms and plans to open five more in Chandigarh, Channai, Kochi, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad by December 2020. In the Caynne second generation models, Porsche effected simultaneous improvement in fuel consumption through reducing CO2 emission of up to 26% and reduction in fuel consumption of up
to 23% less, says the company.
