Maruti Suzuki India clocks record one-million annual sales

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, country’s car market leader, sold a total of 10,18,365 units in 2009-10 posting a growth of 29% as compared to the previous fiscal. This is the first time in Indian automobile history that a car company has crossed the one million-mark in sales in a financial year. Maruti Suzuki sold 8,70,790 units in the domestic market, the highest ever by the company in a fiscal, and the export figures stand at 1,47,575 units during this period, yet another feat by the company.

Maruti Suzuki’s total sale in 2008-09 was 792,167 units.
The domestic sales in the fiscal, in A2 segment grew by 23.8% while in the A3 segment the sales growth was 30.8%, as compared to 2008-09.

Maruti Suzuki’s A-Star topped the export figures with over 1.27 lakh units in the fiscal. A-star was exported across Europe including United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Netherlands. The non-European markets are Algeria, Chile and Indonesia. South Africa, Hong Kong, Australia and Norway were new markets where Maruti Suzuki cars were exported during the year.

March 2010 sales
During March 2010, Maruti Suzuki sold total of 95,123 units, growing 11% over March 2009  (85,669 units). The March 2010 numbers include domestic sales of 79,530 units and the highest ever monthly exports of 15,593 units. The previous highest monthly exports were in August 2009 at 14,847 units.

Price revision
Due to sharp increase in the input costs and introduction of BSIV norms in some models, Maruti Suzuki  revised prices of its models. The approximate price revision on various models (ex-showroom, Delhi) are:  Rs 1,000 on A-star and Ritz, Rs 2,500 on Estilo, Rs 3,000 on Omni, Rs 3,750 on Swift, Rs 7,000 on DZire and Rs 9,000 on SX4.

The company also announced the withdrawal of introductory prices for the Eeco. The new prices for the Eeco will be up by approximately Rs 10,000. Prices have also been revised on the BS-III compliant cars like Maruti 800 and Omni (LPG) by Rs 3,000 and Gypsy by Rs 10,000. The new prices are applicable with immediate effect.

    Maruti is amazing car manufacturer. People always try to figure out its low quality and performance, but still its highest selling car company in India. Great work Maruti suzuki.
