Sony Ericsson launches AM-FM phone

Sony Ericsson has launched an AM/FM handset, R300 Radio phone, targeting entry-level subscribers in small town who love music.
 
This new handset comes with a unique radio-inspired design with volume boosters for clarity of sound in noisy environment.
 
Along with the FM frequency channels Sony Ericsson R300 also comes with AM frequencies, a first for radiophones in India. This is Sony Ericsson's attempt to address the needs of its customers in tier 2 markets and provide them with an option to listen to their favourite show or live cricket commentary on the move.
 
Available in the choice of two stylish colours options- Antique Copper and Steel Black, the R300 Radio is priced at Rs 4,395.
 
"We are witnessing unprecedented growth in smaller towns and cities and plan to increase our geographic presence in such places with launch of the Radio phone R300. The growing popularity of the radio in the tier-II and tier-III cities has created a tremendous opportunity for penetrating such markets and we are confident that our new offering will be well received by our consumers," said Sudhin Mathur, General Manager, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, India.
 
"The introduction of Radio phones will fulfill the growing trend of listening to radio on a mobile, a medium which offers great scope for interactivity," he further added.
 
Sony Ericsson has sold over 100 million phones in 2007 and is at present, one of the five largest mobile phone manufacturers in the world.
