TCS bags 5-year contract from Singapore Airlines Cargo

August 26, 2008

Global IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has bagged a multi-million dollar, back-office accounting processes contract, from Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIA Cargo). The contract is for a 5-year period.

SIA Cargo has had a relationship with TCS since 2004 when TCS was entrusted with the airline's core critical back-office revenue accounting processes.

Under the new agreement, taking into consideration TCS' existing capabilities in Business Outsourcing Processes with the travel and transport industry and the Consultancy's extensive experience in Cargo Revenue Accounting, SIA Cargo has decided to outsource additional cargo revenue accounting processes.

"Singapore Airlines and TCS have always enjoyed a long lasting relationship which can be termed more as a partnership in progress rather than a customer service provider relationship," TCS Asia Pacific executive vice president and regional director Girija Pande said.
SIA Cargo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is ranked fourth in the world in terms of international freight tone-kilometre.  The airline has a route network that covers more than 39 countries across the world.
