The dilemma is yet not over. The nuclear deal is just the tip of the iceberg. There is a bigger political drama which is yet to unfold. The tug of war of power is on. The communists have shown their true colours. If the news reports were to be believed the communists here are playing the communal card. The warning given to Mulayam Singh saying that most of the muslims don't want the nuke deal to go through. This is nothing but a joke. How many muslims in the first place understand as to what is going on. But in India this card may actually play well.
But for time being it is being seen that the congress is standing firm backing their prime minister. Though it must be noted there are some factions in the party that are active to pull down the image of the prime minister. But these are undercover businesses. The withdrawal of support by Mayawati is just the precursor to how the bad elements surface as the tough times near. The way she has withdrawn her support to the union government, it seems that there is much in offing. The filing of the charge-sheet turned out to be the trigger here. Whatever be the case, there are smaller entities that will play a larger role in the national politics. The worst outcome will be the enthroning someone like Lalu Yadav on the backing of the third front and the communists.
The jolt seems to be nearing us. The fall won’t impact much as most of the domestic issues are under control. Though the inflation is still roaring, there is little that the government can do. The central bankers have already told that they have done whatever they could have done. The rest will be taken care by the system. In such circumstances, the international agenda will be the victim if the current government goes for a toss. So keep the fingers crossed for Manmohan Singh and company and see how the things unfold as the central government progress (!) on the issue of nuclear deal. |
