Taking a cue from what is happening in the last one week on the Indo Pak border; one is little convinced of the new democratic rule in Pakistan and its grip on the India Pakistan relationship. The unprovoked fire on Indian bases from Pakistani army is an indication of a new disturbed phase. After a long cease fire due to the pressure from USA, now the Indian army base are again brought under the bullet showers by Pakistani army. The timing is something to watch out for.
The serial blasts in Jaipur taking the toll of nearly 100 lives turned out to be point of global notice after the earthquake in China. Prima facie, the Indian Mujahiddin along with HUJI militants were found to be the mastermind behind these blasts. However at a time when the Indian politicians are also split and trying to pass on the responsibility of the blasts on each other, Pakistani army is again turned active.
The worst part is this is happening at a moment of time when our neighbours do have a democratic government to head. Top of it this is a all party government and was celebrated by the world including India. There was an array of hope and positively in the Indian subcontinent when the terrorism clad military run nation of Pakistan got a democratic government. However given the development on the border it seems that there is little in the hands of the democratic set up and Pakistani army is still in the power at least when it comes to deciding the foreign affairs of the nation. This still may improve. However, if it is the other way round then god saves us. If the democratic set up in Pakistan is also supporting the military action on the India Pak border, then the future of by lateral talks look bleak. At the end of the day, 'Bullet for a bullet' looks great when Julious Reberro did it in Punjab. Even Reberro won’t prefer that. As rightly observed, an eye for an eye leaves the entire world with blind population. There is a need that the Pakistani army understands this reality and stops this usage of fire arms.
At the same time the Indian politicians are also expected to show up some amount of maturity and solidarity. Passing on the responsibility of the serial bomb blasts won’t make any big difference. Arresting the culprits and post trial punishments will surely do. Also it will send a positive message on the international level. |
