British Airways, from December 7 (Sunday), will launch a five-weekly service from Hyderabad to London's Heathrow airport. This will also facilitate connections to 22 destinations in North America. British Airways is the only airline to offer direct flights between Hyderabad and the UK capital.
British Airways area commercial manager for South Asia, Amanda Amos, said, "India is the largest long-haul market for British Airways outside North America. Despite today's announcement that we will suspend the Kolkata route at the end of March, this new route in Hyderabad will represent an overall increase in our Indian flights from 43 to 45 weekly flights in summer 2009."
The newest addition to the airline's Indian network will operate directly from Terminal 5, British Airways' exclusive new home in Heathrow, London. Built at as cost of £4.3 billion, Terminal 5, the UK's largest free-standing building, has welcomed more than 12 million customers and handled roughly 80,000 flights since it opened on March 27, 2008.
Terminal 5's lounges, called Galleries, are open to Club World travellers as well as Gold and Silver Executive Club members.
They offer a range of luxury amenities catering to most business needs while outside of an office environment, including free Wi-Fi throughout, a dedicated work and entertainment zone with desktop computers and printers and a state of the art business suite capable of seating 8 with PCs and full printing facilities. |
