Air travel to become cheaper, fuel surcharge cut on domestic routes

Jet Airways has announced a reduction in passenger fuel surcharges on domestic routes with effect from December 6. This comes in response to the recent cut in domestic fuel prices.

For routes under 750 kms, Jet Airways has pared fuel surcharge by Rs 400 to Rs 1950. Fuel surcharge on these routes previously stood at Rs 2,350. For routes over 750 kms, Jet also cut fuel surcharge by Rs 400 to Rs 2,700. Fuel surcharge on these routes was previously Rs 3100.

Vijay Mallya's Kingfisher Airlines also cut fuel surcharge on air tickets which is slated to bring down fares by up to Rs 400 on domestic routes.

Travel in Kingfisher Red will see a cut of up to Rs 300 on routes up to 750 km to Rs 1,950 from Rs 2,250. Flights over 750 km will see a fall of Rs 200 to Rs 2,700 from the previous Rs 2,900.

Effective December six, IndiGo has reduced its fuel surcharge to match that of Air India and other airlines. IndiGo operates 125 flights across 17 destinations with a fleet of 19 brand new Airbus A-320 aircraft.
