Suzuki's 150cc bike GS150R to roll out before June

Suzuki's 150cc bike Suzuki GS150R has finally come to India and will be available before June 2009. The bike will vie for a place in the market along with Zeus and Heat, which are in the 125cc entry-level category.

The bike, with a mileage of around 50kmpl-55kmpl, will carry a pricetag of around Rs 59,000.

Colour variants available are Pearl Nebular Black, Mettalic Flint Gray, Candy Max Orange and Candy Dark Greenish Blue.

The GS150R has an 18-inch alloy wheels, a front disc brake, rear drum brakes, throttle positioning sensor digital speedometer, odometer and tripmeter, and an analogue tachometer.

Meanwhile, Suzuki Motor Corp will pump in Rs 150 crore by 2010 on capacity expansion and product launches.

"So far, we have put in Rs 400 crore. We will be making an additional investment of Rs 150 crore by 2010 for expanding our production capacity and for new models," Suzuki Motorcycle India Vice-President Marketing and Sales Atul Gupta said. The company's annual production capacity will go up to 2.5 lakh by mid-2009 from 1.7 lakh units, he added.

"We will not have our own R&D (for two-wheelers) but Suzuki is strengthening R&D in India for Maruti and maybe motorcycles will be a part of it," company Joint Managing director Katsumi Takata said.

Armed with the world's first eco-mode-equipped engine rpm indicator, the new bike has a unique GSX-R-derived engine rpm indicator lights that provides indication to the rider about the optimum up-shift timing.

Moreover, sporty style headlight, with built-in positioning light inspired from Suzuki international super bike, GSX-R, gives GS150R a very distinct look. The bike has a super sleek, streamlined aerodynamic shaped LED Tail Lamp and Integrated Rear Turn Signals based on GSX-R styling.

In addition, the bike has a Majestic Fuel Tank. The shock absorber has a separate oil reservoir, which facilitates oil cooling effectively, ensuring growth in its performance. Its Engine Balancer Technology, equipped with 'balancer driven gear fitted with a rubber damper', further delivers a more comfortable riding experience to bike buffs.
