Lucknow becomes the 12th Air India station to have flights to Dubai

Mumbai, October 29, 2007

Lucknow has become the 12th Indian station to have direct connectivity with Dubai, as Air Indian Express flights start to fly from the city. This is following the thrice weekly flights of Air India Express to Dubai, a part of the new winter schedule which is being introduced on the 28th of October 2007. Last week Jaipur had become the 11th Indian station for the Dubai routes.

The Lucknow flights will be thrice weekly departing on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving the following day. The flights out of Jaipur will be on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

With the introduction of these new flights, Air India Express will operate 46 flights a week to Dubai from 12 Indian stations, viz. Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Trichy, Amritsar, Nagpur, Delhi, Jaipur and Lucknow.

Commencing operations on April 29, 2005 with three leased B737-800 aircraft, the Air India Express fleet today comprises of seven leased and ten owned B737-800 aircraft. Air India Express operations cover the Indian cities of Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangalore, Chennai, Trichy, Amritsar, Nagpur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi and offer International flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Muscat, Salalah in UAE and Oman, Bahrain and Doha, as well as to Singapore and Colombo.

On 24th September 2007, Air India Express commenced direct flights from Nagpur to Dubai, three times a week and on 7th October 2007, commenced direct thrice-weekly flights from Kolkata to Singapore.

It is proposed to introduce direct flights from Kolkata to Dhaka, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Other flights proposed are from Chennai to Kuala Lumpur and Johar Baru, from Lucknow, Jaipur and  Ahmedabad direct to Dubai, from Mumbai to Male via Kochi and Mumbai to Colombo direct.
