First Protect then decide

Chetan Kamble is back in action again. He fetched the public attention when he filed a 'public interest litigation' (PIL) in Supreme Court unearthing the petrol pump scam in India. This time he has taken over Narayan Rane. Revenue Minister of Maharashtra- Narayan Rane - is in a tight spot allegedly for his two contradictory orders on a plot of land near Sahar International Airport. Chetan Kamble along with one Vilas Devarukhar has moved to court and the times have turned tough for the politician.

The worst part of this affair is the treatment given to Chetan Kamble and his family. He and his family is being threatened continuously to withdraw the judicial move. Some dreaded men went on bullying at his residence. This incidence surely put Maharashtra at par with the likes of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

However there is something worse and detrimental to the democratic spirit. The incidence of distributing un-named pamphlet, which puts down Chetan Kamble and his family, in the legislative assembly, as mentioned by a leading newspaper makes us worry much. This primarily turns out to be a case of building a war-chest against those who want to fight some of the not so transparent deals. When the home minister of the state says that there are many whose life is under threat and Chetan Kamble is not the only one who needs protection.

We fail to understand the apathy of the office bearers. It does have two meanings. First either there are many who are threatened which in turn suggests that there is a complete absence of law and order in the state. And the second is the honourable home minister does not think it fit to offer any protection to one who really is in need when there are many who are enjoying the protection just for the sake of showing off. Whatever be the case, but in no circumstances people like Chetan Kamble should be allowed to be the victim of the 'corrupt system' that works behind the curtain and under the table. Otherwise the last ray of hope for justice will fade away in no time.
