Best Employers Survey 2009: HCL Infosystems has emerged as the best employer in the information technology industry, according to a survey conducted by Dataquest-IDC (International Data Corporation), followed by iGate, Rolta, RMSI and SAS Institute.
HCL jumped up two positions from last year, while iGate slipped one notch to number two, according to Dataquest-IDC Best Employers Survey 2009 covering 200 IT companies of which 31 companies were short-listed for the final round.

The two-wheeler manufacturing arm of the Mahindra Group expanded its product line-up by launching two gearless scooters — Rodeo and Duro. Both models Rodeo and Duro incorporate technological & design inputs from Taiwan’s SYM & Italy’s Engines Engineering. Mahindra Rodeo priced at Rs 41,299 (ex-showroom Pune) and the Mahindra Duro priced at Rs 38,299 (ex-showroom Pune).

HTC Corporation, Taiwan-based mobile phones handset maker launched Android-powered mobile phone HTC Hero in India. The HTC Hero priced Rs 34,600 in Maharashtra and Rs 31,990 in the Rest of India. Android is a mobile operating system running on the Linux platform. It was initially developed by Google and later the Open Handset Alliance.

Kingfisher Airlines will commence two daily non-stop flights from Mumbai to Hong Kong from September 15, 2009 and Mumbai to Singapore from September 16, 2009. the launch of these new route Kingfisher Airlines is expanding its destinations from South East Asia to its international route network. The flights on both these routes will be operated using the brand new Airbus A330-200s, widely billed as the best A330s ever built for any airline.

Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom SA said that they intend to combine their British mobile phone units- T-Mobile UK and Orange UK to form the country’s biggest mobile operator in a new 50:50 joint venture company. The new joint venture will create the UK’s leading mobile operator. It will have a combined mobile customer base of around 28.4 million, representing approximately 37 percent of UK mobile subscribers*, based on figures at end December 2008. By integrating Orange’s broadband activities, the joint venture will also have the capabilities to offer convergent solutions to its customers in the future. The business will have pro forma 2008 revenues of approximately Euro 9.4 billion (£7.7 billion) and EBITDA of euro 2.1 billion (£1.7 billion).
