Post the debacle in Himachal Pradesh and non-materialisation of expectations in Gujarat, now it is Goa that is haunting Congress. The 7 months old government is feeling the heat due to revolt from three members of the ruling coalition. Though it is primarily said that the mutiny is to 'put the policies of finance minister- Dayanand Narvekar on track', there are many more issues are at stake.
Though Goa turned out to be the first state to cancel Special Economic Zones, few such activities are still on under some pretext or the other. It is said that to ensure that such hidden agendas are scrapped these revolutionary elements are active. Here it is not a matter of whether the common man in Goa is going to benefit out of such issues are not, but it is the one's personal will to capture the power that rules the state's politics, as it was seen earlier for a long time. Post Parikar, there was not a single chief minister that could offer Goa a stable government.
Here the shrewd role played by the NCP chief Sharad Pawar is noteworthy. Pawar has been doing a similar game in Maharashtra. Needless to say the actions of his MLAs in Goa are supported by his sanction. The Congress party on the other hand is on the losing spree. It seems that the local politics is becoming dirtier and instead of local issues it is personal interest that is being played up.
