Tech Mahindra to invest Rs 200 crore for Chandigarh campus

India's sixth largest software exporter Tech Mahindra will invest Rs 200 crore to set up of a state-of-the-art software development centre in Chandigarh. The campus, coming up at Rajiv Gandhi Technology Park, will be built on 15 acre of land and with capacity to seat 5,000
professionals.

The new campus will accommodate 2,500 professionals in the first phase, and 5,000 when fully completed. It will offer videoconferencing facilities, training centres, food courts,  amphitheatre, recreation facilities, swimming pool, gymnasium and sports complex for its
employees.

"I am particularly delighted that we've chosen Chandigarh as a centre to expand our operations. The enabling environment and the incredible foresight the Chandigarh government has shown in creating an education epicenter within the city are major boosters that will help make this city an IT hub," Mahindra and Mahindra chairman Keshub Mahindra said.

Announcing the set-up of Tech Mahindra's North Campus, Vineet Nayyar, Vice Chairman, MD and CEO, Tech Mahindra, said, "The organisation has been on a continuous journey of transformation, addressing new players in the telecom ecosystem and expanding service lines. We have chosen Chandigarh because of its rapidly developing infrastructure, IT-friendly policies and access to a pool of high-quality software professionals. Once completed, Chandigarh will be integral to the expansion of the company's service offerings and delivery
capabilities."

He further added, "We are overwhelmed by the support that we received from the investor-friendly government and professionals here. We are keen to tap the local talent pool and make this centre a major hub in the region and thus participate in the techno-economic development of the State."

Tech Mahindra currently employs over 600 IT professionals at its Chandigarh development centre.

Tech Mahindra – a joint venture company between Mahindra & Mahindra and British Telecom - is a provider of solutions and services to the telecommunications industry. The company had posted total revenues of $648 million in the year ended March 31, 2007.
