After the success of the its compressed natural gas (CNG) variant of the Santro model, Korean car maker Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) announced plans to launch liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) variant in 2008.
"We will be launching the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) version of our Santro brand car next year," HMIL, Vice President (Marketing and Sales), Arvind Saxena told reporters on Friday.
The company had already launched CNG (compressed natural gas) version of Santro in July this year in the country.
Even after admitting that the high interest rate had dampened the growth of passenger-car market in the country, Saxena said that the company was looking to sell 3.20 lakh cars including domestic as well as exports by the end of this year against sales of 3 lakh cars last year. "We hope to sell 2 lakh cars in domestic market and 1.20 lakh cars in overseas market," he said.
About selling the newly launched 'i10' car, Saxena projected to sell 2.30 lakh cars in one year time. "We expect to sell 15,000 cars by December and 2.30 lakh cars in one year time," he said.
