British Airways introduces Thali service on board its flights from India

November 1, 2007

British Airways introduces changes to its inflight catering services by offering authentic Indian food served in truly Indian style for its customers from India to London Heathrow.

The airline will be giving its customers more choice of meals across all cabins. A new Thali service, which is a selection of different Indian dishes, has also been created especially by Indian chefs from the Oberoi group for the discerning Indian traveller in the First cabin.

November 2007 also ushers in a unique milestone of 50 years of catering for British Airways by the Oberoi Flight Services in India.

British Airways celebrates Diwali and commemorates this association by offering a special menu to all its First class passengers flying from Delhi to London Heathrow for the next 50 days. Customers will be able to savour delectable recipes carefully sourced from the Royal Kitchens of the erstwhile princely states using the choicest of ingredients hand-picked to achieve authentic tastes and flavours. The Thali service will be available for all First Class customers from Delhi to London and on the return leg of their journey.

Amanda Amos, British Airways Area Commercial Manager South Asia said: "We have introduced a number of changes to our catering services on board our flights based on the feedback from our customers.

"Several measures have been taken to ensure that the dishes adapt well for service on board the aircraft. The selection is a collage of flavours from various states of India chosen with care to offer our passengers a unique Indian experience."
